Problems with PSP, please help!!!?

Ok so this is my sons psp, *ahem* his second one in 3 years I might add. I refuse to buy him another one, but I need someones expertiese on what may be the problem here. When you put in the game, you know how there is supposed to be an option on the screen under game for UMD? Well it is no longer giving that option. When you put any game in, and mind you I have tried over a dozen, it tries to read it for a good 5 minutes maybe more, then says the disc could not be read. Do I need to go have the inside cleaned? Or do you think there is something technically wrong with it. Any help would be great considering I know nothing about these things. I do not know wear to take it to get it fixed. Maybe GameCrazy? Anyway, let me know...Thank you!
